Asked Questions for all our DOG runs/walks:
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes. For everyone’s health and safety, we require that your dog be current on all vaccinations. There is a place within the registration form to note your dog’s Rabies Tag No. All dogs living in the
City limits must be current with the City dog licenses.
How many dogs are allowed per person?
We prefer one dog per two-legged (human) walker/runner; however, we will accept two leashed, well-behaved dogs under your control.
Do my dogs have to be leashed? What kinds of leashes are acceptable?
ALL dogs must be leashed. No retractable leashes are allowed for our events. All dogs must be on a 4’- 6’ leash.
Where can I register for the event?
You will be able to register at the following website. Register at: RunSignUp. Registration will open on March 4!
What do I receive for my registration fee?
Proceeds from our events go towards helping dog related non-profits such as funding canine cancer research, support of our local animal shelters, assistance for service dogs, and more! Every
participant will receive a schWAG bag full of toys, treats, and more! Every participant will also be entered to win great prizes in our raffle after each event! We put the WAG into schWAG
bags.
When can I pick up my event packet?
Event packets can be picked up before the event. Locations to be determined and posted on the website as well as our facebook page.
May I walk with an animal other than a dog?
Unfortunately, due to city and public safety regulations, and for your safety, only canines will be allowed to participate in our events.
May I walk with a stroller?
Due to the complexity of a running/walking event with dogs, please check with each event description (under registration rules) to see if strollers for small children are allowed. However, we do make
an exception for strollers for senior dogs or wheelchair-bound dogs with disabilities.
Is this event competitive?
Absolutely not; it is a timed event but friendly and non-competitive. There will be raffle prizes and refreshments after the events.
Can any size, breed or age of dogs participate?
We are accepting all breeds and sizes of dogs from our smallest to our largest. For our shorter duration events (1 mile), we are allowing puppies to participate. However, please do NOT bring females
in heat or aggressive dogs. There will be a lot of dogs so please be prepared to control your dog at all times.
What precautions are being taken for the safety of the dogs and participants?
We hope that everyone comes prepared for an event that will have lots of dogs interacting with each other. We will have veterinarians and technicians at all of our events. They will have the
authority to remove any participant/canine from the event for health related concerns, aggressiveness, rule violation, etc. The event will be held on city streets and trails and the course is shared
with the general public. Please obey all normal traffic rules while crossing streets. Follow pedestrian laws at all times.
Can I participate in the event even if I do not have a dog?
Yes, absolutely yes! We would love everyone to come and enjoy these great events with or without a canine companion. Many of our events even have our local animal shelters showcasing their Adopt-Me
dogs. Who knows…you may just find your new best friend and running partner!
I am interested in sponsoring or volunteering for K9 9K or I have other questions. How do I contact you?
We are always looking for volunteers and sponsors to help with this great event. The best way to contact K9 9K is by email. You can also contact us by regular mail or phone. Please go to the
Contact Us page for more information.
Is the event weather dependent?
The event will be held rain, snow or sunshine!
What rules, as humans, do we need to follow?
PLEASE…clean up after your dog. There will be complimentary dog poop bags for everyone. These bags are being donated by dogpoopbags.com . Bring your dog only if they like being around other people and dogs. Walk or run the course only if you and your dog are in adequate physical
condition.
